BSCES wins Outstanding Section award

At the awards luncheon in Providence, the Boston Society of Civil Engineers (BSCE) was honored with the Outstanding Section and Branch Award for Very Large Sections and Branches. In addition, the Metropolitan [New York City] Section was honored with the Web Award for Very Large Sections and Branches.

Acknowledged for its members’ involvement in educational activities, community service, and advocacy for the profession of civil engineering, BSCE was also the recipient of this year’s Public Service Award. The award also recognized BSCE’s highly visible community outreach work, interaction with state legislators, cooperation with other professional engineer groups, and hosting of the local television show “Civil Engineering Today.”

Michelle Jose, A.M.ASCE, a member of the BSCE, was presented the second Citizen Engineer Award. An advocate of promoting civil engineering as a future profession to youth, Jose has been involved in numerous programs such as the Future City Competition and Thinkfest, working with ASCE Student Chapters, and appearances on the program “Civil Engineering Today.” In addition, Jose has been actively involved in projects with Engineers Without Borders-USA (EWB-USA).
